Arts Preview: South Coast Repertory and “Joan”

The award-winning theater company presents a new play about the life of legendary comedian Joan Rivers as part of its American Icon Series. Opening Oct. 27, “Joan” is directed by SCR Artistic Director David Ivers.

Singer-songwriter Downs is famous for her performance of traditional and popular Mexican music in addition to her own compositions. This concert will include a mix of traditional Mexican music as well as Mesoamerican music, original songs, and renditions of classic rancheras. To celebrate the Day of the Dead, the performance will lean on traditions celebrating love, loss, and family. The audience is encouraged to participate by donning Dia de Los Muertos costumes and makeup to celebrate the holiday. Plus, more things to do in O.C. this week!
